The Parma City School District serves more than 11,500 students in PreK-12 residing in Parma, Parma Heights, and Seven Hills. Our team transitioned the district through consolidation (closing four schools while honoring their history in the community), redistricting, restructuring the school day, instituting inclusive schools to ensure Least Restrictive Environment, and fulfilling a 1:1 device program. During this time I was responsible for Public Relations, Communications and Community Engagement, Leadership Development, and the Parma Community|Business|Schools Partnership.

PUBLIC RELATIONS

Developed positive, responsive two-way communication channels to support community relations, media relations, crisis communications, and student/staff relations that promote trust and support for our schools.

COMMUNICATIONS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Developed and implemented a comprehensive district-wide communications, media relations, community relations and community engagement program with internal and external stakeholders for the 7th largest school district in Ohio. Established key messaging for all print, electronic, social media and mobile applications for 14 schools and district communications.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Responsible for oversight, development, supervision and evaluation of the communications department and PACTV team members. Established webmaster training, supervision and evaluation protocols. Served on the Technology Leadership Council, Superintendent's Planning Team, Partners in Education citizens committee, Rotary and First Ring Superintendent’s Collaborative Communications Council.

COMMUNITY|BUSINESS|SCHOOLS PARTNERSHIPS

Served as co-facilitator of the Community|Business|Schools Partnership to better match the resources in the community to the needs within our schools. Coordinated extensive Strategic Planning initiative with more than 250 stakeholders, resulting in 8 initiative teams made up of students, families, school employees and community members working together on the future of their schools.
